Presentation on Key Gaps in Attracting Investment in the Biotechnology Industry2019/03/04

We propose policies and measures required for Taipei to advance the biotechnology industry and promote investment from the perspective of an overall business cluster. The Program seeks to use the analysis of industrial trends, international benchmarking cases, inventory of current status in Taipei, and analysis of key gaps in business clusters to identify the “magnet that attracts biotech companies” to Taipei. We recommend establishing Taipei City as the intelligent headquarters of precision medicine in Asia by implementing policies to attract venture capital, search for bridgers (e.g. MassMedic or organizing joint meetings) (because the key gap in the biotechnology industry from the perspective of business clusters is the lack of funding and cross-regional integration), emphasize the highly integrated regional “ABC (academic-business-clinical practitioners)”, introduce other professional services, and provide support for related industries (e.g. CRO, software-related data service companies (biometrics computing services) etc.).
