Taipei’s exceptional
talent pool continues to attract enterprises and professionals from diverse
industries worldwide. According to the World Talent Ranking 2024
released by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in
Lausanne, Taipei ranks 18th globally and 5th in Asia, underscoring its strong
competitiveness in the global talent arena.
The city is home to 24 higher education
institutions, and Taiwan as a whole boasts a highly educated workforce. In
2024, 82% of Taipei’s employed population held higher education degrees,
providing businesses with a highly skilled and diverse talent base. Notably,
Taipei has approximately 240,000 professionals in information technology,
professional sciences, and healthcare, highlighting its strength and innovative
potential in these key sectors.
As of May 2025, official statistics from
Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor show that 19,329 foreign professionals were employed
in Taipei, 36.75% of Taiwan’s total, the highest concentration in the country.
These professionals are distributed across critical industries such as AI and
information technology, semiconductors, fintech, digital health, biotechnology,
and green energy, making Taipei a leading hub for industrial innovation in
Asia.
